Great for motorcycle camping trips. Just a few drops is great for shampoo, body wash & dishes. A small squirt is great for washing clothes. Rinses easily. Citronella smells good & seems to keep bugs away (that might be wishful thinking). I buy a large bottle & refill smaller one before my trips (pop out insert in screw cap with a knife to refill). I prefer citronella over the blue one. I can make a small bottle last a few weeks.First, there's no type "A" or type "B" citronella! There are about 4 types of citronella (that I know of) and 2 are used for commercial citronella production. The principal chemical constituents of citronella oil are citronellol and geraniol. Citronellol is what makes it effective as a mosquito repellent and there is about TWICE as much citronellol in the Java type as the Ceylon type making it preferred, however, that also makes the Java type more toxic (category III = slightly toxic) compared to the Ceylon type (category IV = practically non-toxic).Second, citronella oil does NOT "dry the skin" (hint... "OIL"). If a commercial product drys the skin it's likely it's one of the other components in the product. Citronella oil is volatile/unstable, meaning it will evaporate readily, which is why you need a stabilizing, carrier oil/mix (typically anywhere from 0.5% to 10%), so in mosquito-infested areas, you WILL need to reapply! (you may want to use a citronella candle or two and/or a smoky fire on the trail). How often you need to reapply depends mostly on the mix used in making the application and the application type. Lotions are longer lasting than sprays, but generally, protection will last anywhere from about 30 minutes for soaps to about 3 hours for lotions. As to the mix or “recipe”, it can be as simple as 15 drops lavender oil, 10 drops citronella oil, 5 drops lemon oil (mix, put in a spray bottle, fill the rest with water. Shake and spray away from eyes) or something more complicated. If I'm on the trail, and I expect mosquitoes, I use a citronella candle in the tent and a smoky fire outside the tent, along with all the usual precautions. Since mosquitoes find you by sense of smell, washing helps make it more difficult for mosquitoes to find you. Washing with a citronella product can only help. This soap smells great, and is perfect to have in case you need it. The container is durable so if traveling, you don't have to worry about it being crushed and exploding in your bag. Only reason I gave it four stars is because the low-sudsing is very frustrating at times, especially when hand washing clothes. It feels like the soap just dissipates very quickly and I have to use a lot to actually get things clean. All in all, good for its uses.Easy to clean and pack awayWorks. Citronella this year is working to keep the skeeters away. I have other products which are essential oil based and they are not working this year. Hungry buggers!I don't use this as soap. I use this with small amounts of water and lather up all over. I like the citronella smell which is better than other more chemical products.Haven't had any skin reactions or drying out on my end. Only thing happening is the skeeters stay away from me.Good product. I ordered two bottles for camping, one for myself and another for my sister along with some more stuff off of amazon. One of the caps was leaking and some of the liquid soap leaked out onto the box and my other stuff. The caps were not checked and the bottles were not in a ziplock bag which would have prevented the mess that's why only 4 stars.Like it Very much because of the simple fact of the product works. It is a way of having to protect yourself from mosquitoes without using a spray or some other form of insect repellent. The citronella wash does an excellent job.Got it in time; haven't used it yet but I will... This (or similar product) is all I need for camping for body and dish; etc ...I love this stuff! I bought his for my hike on the Camino de Santiago and it worked wonderfully. It is concentrated, so a little goes a long way. It is low foaming, so it is easy to rinse. It smells good, so keeps you feeling fresh. I used in conjunction with a scrubba and I think it was a great purchase. It lasted me about 5 weeks washing 2 shirts, 2 underwear, 2 pairs of socks, 1 bra and 1 pair of shorts/pants per day.Used this stuff on a backpacking trip recently (just before lockdown!) and it works really well. I used it primarily as dish soap but also washed my hair and face with it once and it was fine. Will definitely use this stuff for trips going forward.I opted for the citronella version purely because I thought it might smell nicer. The scent is very mild, so suitable for any use and any person I think. Can't comment on its bug repelling ability but I suspect that's probably marketing fluff. It's highly concentrated so a small bottle lasted me a whole week easily, though I was quite generous with it. I'm sure I could have made it last longer.Recently took this on a six night trip to the woods and can confirm a little goes a long way. Even when a couple of days topped 30 degrees a capful is enough for a shower, washing up of a few items of light weight clothing. I guess you could just use a little more and take you clothes and dirty pots in the shower with you.Great smell, not to strong but pleasant, can't comment on the insect repellent aspect as I use another product to keep the bugs at bay. It’s tiny, much more like what I’d call travel size. My fault for not realising. Also price on the item was more than £1 cheaper than what I paid which is quite significant in the scheme of things.. The company did offer to reimburse me if I sent photo of the item showing the price but hey ho, life too short to get involved. Maybe just make clear tiny travel size and price may varyIdeal for camping outdoors with added benefit of citronella. Can be used to wash both the body and undergarments or swimwear (not heavy fibre items). Ok for washing hair (male short hair in my case) not sure if will have the same effect regular use for long hair. Only use a small amount and do not be fooled into using more as limited soaping affect. biodegradable and relatively environmentally friendly. Always use away from a natural water source I personally would never use actually in a freshwater river/lake system. convenient size for traveling light and dual purpose so you will not need to carry 5 or 6 different bottles. A little pricey though hence the 4 stars.
